Course Description

SHB50115 Diploma of Beauty Therapy is the qualification that prepares graduates to work as Beauty Therapists who work as self employed, independent practitioners and those who want to work in larger salons. It provides the skills of beauty therapy treatment to clients including facial treatments, body massage and treatments, lash and brow treatments, nail and make-up services.

  • Initial deposit $1,000.00 upon enrolment

Study Outcome

After achieving SHB50115 Diploma of Beauty Therapy, individuals could progress to higher education qualifications. This qualification provides a pathway to work in beauty industry based on their learned skills and knowledge, possible job roles may include but not limited to:

  • Beauty Therapist
  • Spa Therapist
  • Cosmetic Retail Advisor
  • Make-up Artist


An application can be made for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) when the student believes that they have already attained the necessary skills and competencies elsewhere (work, other study etc.) or have an equivalent qualification or part of a qualification. MIA recognises the AQF qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by any other RTOs and grants credit for these towards an award where applicable. The application for RPL and/or Credit Transfer should be lodged prior to or immediately after the enrolment.

Assessment methods

A variety of assessment methods will be used to assess students’ knowledge and skills. Trainer will explain these in detail before any assessment takes place. Assessment methods may include and not limited to:

  • Written Assessment (Questions and Answers)
  • Case Study/Role Play
  • Practical Demonstration/On-Site Observation

Delivery Methods


This program is designed for classroom based training. In classroom training, it is face-to-face delivery for students to attend and complete in-class activities, presentation, practice exercises and discussions. Delivery has been timetabled to ensure you can develop the theoretical skills and knowledge and have the opportunity to develop practical skills in a clinic environment. Individual learning includes home/work study, the completion of assignments and Individual reading and research.

Student Clinic

On successful completion of the theoretical components, you will complete your training in our student clinics (120 hours) in order to allow you to apply practical skills, under supervision.

Entry Requirements

  • MIA will conduct a pre-confirmation of enrolment, LLN assessment with applicants to ensure their suitability, to undertake and successfully complete the course.
  • Minimum requirement is completion of year 12 Australian secondary schooling or equivalent
