Course Description


22316VIC Advanced Diploma of Myotherapy is a nationally accredited course that prepares graduates to work as a remedial massage therapist. Entry Requirements


  • MIA will conduct a pre-confirmation of enrolment, LLN assessment with applicants to ensure their suitability, to undertake and successfully complete the course.
  • IELTS 5.5 or equivalent
  • Entrants to the 22316VIC Advanced Diploma of Myotherapy must provide evidence that they have gained competencies equivalent to those defined by:
    1. HLT50307 Diploma of Remedial Massage from the HLT07 training package, or HLT52015 Diploma of Remedial Massage from the HLT training package




Course Structure


The program comprises of the following 9 units of competency:

CHCCOM002 Use communication to build relationships

VU21873 Establish and manage a myotherapy practice

VU21874 Manage health risks in a myotherapy environment

VU21875 Work within a myotherapy framework

VU21876 Perform myotherapy clinical assessment

VU21877 Plan myotherapy treatment strategy

VU21878 Provide myotherapy treatment

VU21879 Provide myofascial dry needling treatment

VU21880 Conduct research relating to myotherapy clinical practice

On successful completion of the program, learners will be awarded with 22316VIC Advanced Diploma of Myotherapy




Delivery Methods


Classroom

The delivery is classroom based with Students completing in-class activities, presentations, discussions and assessment tasks. These include:

• practice exercises that reinforce the required practical skills

• learning activities in the training environment in small groups and pairs, plus introduction to student clinical sessions supervised by MIA’s qualified assessor

• use of textbooks, reference material and handouts to support learning

• independent reading, preparation and learning exercises

• assignments

Un Supervised Activities

Includes;

• Completion of assignments

• Research

• Reading of course materials and handouts

• Reflecting on their own learning

• Industry engagement including for example; relevant seminars, conferences and product launches

MIA Clinic

• MIA has, on site a dedicated clinic, open to the fee-paying public, and other fee-paying College students for the Student work placement requirements

• On successful completion of learning and assessment conducted in the classroom, Students will complete their practical elements of the course

• MIA Clinic will be time tabled to allow students to apply practical skills in a work situation; these will comprise students conducting massage techniques under direct supervision of a vocationally qualified supervisor

Individual Student Log books will be kept as a record of supervision activities and Student hours




Assessment methods


A variety of assessment methods will be used to assess your knowledge and skills. Your trainer will explain these in detail before any assessment takes place. Assessment methods may include but not limited to:

  • Written assignments
  • Written /Oral questioning
  • Observation
  • Work-based projects
  • MIA Clinical Practice
  • RPL




Recognition


An application can be made for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) when the student believes that they have already attained the necessary skills and competencies elsewhere (work, other study etc.) or have an equivalent qualification or part of a qualification. MIA recognises the AQF qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by any other RTOs and grants credit for these towards an award where applicable.

The application for RPL and/or Credit Transfer should be lodged prior to or immediately after the enrolment.




Study Outcome


Completion of this course enables qualified Remedial Massage Therapists to practise as a Myotherapist in their own practice, or as a member of a health clinic

Resource/Material Fee: $600.00

Tuition Fee: $8,200

Payment Plan:

  • Initial deposit $1,000.00 upon enrolment

  • Followed by $800.00 per month for 10 months

  • Total payable $9,000.00
