First Aid Training Course

MIA offer first aid training courses, including the following:

​

  • HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.

This unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

  • HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to recognise and respond to life-threatening emergencies in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.

  • HLTAID011 Provide first aid

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty in line with first aid guidelines  determined  by the Australian  Resuscitation  Council (ARC)  and other  Australian  national peak clinical  bodies.

You may register first aid training course with MIA based on your needs and interests. You will receive a Statement of Attainment for the unit(s) upon successful completion of training and assessment.

The First Aid training course will give you the skills and knowledge required to provide First Aid response, life support, management of casualty(s), the incident and other first aiders, in a range of situations, including in the home, workplace or within the community, until the arrival of medical or other assistance.

Please note it is a requirement of this course that practical demonstration of CPR must be performed on the adult manikin on the floor.

Course requirements:

There are no prerequisite, entry, work-placement, licensing or certification requirements for this course.

MIA will conduct a pre-confirmation of enrolment, LLN assessment with applicants to ensure their suitability, to undertake and successfully complete the course.

Course Duration:

HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

4 hours on-campus, formal training and assessment tasks plus: 5 hours self-directed activities, including pre reading.

 

HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support (including HLTAID009)

6 hrs on-campus, formal training and assessment tasks plus: 6 hours self-directed activities, including pre reading.

 

HLTAID011 Provide first aid (including HLTAID009 and 010)

11 hrs on-campus, formal training and assessment tasks plus: 7 hours self-directed activities, including pre reading.

Payment: 

Full Payment is required prior to the commencement of enrolled session

Cancellation of registered session: 

MIA would try our best to rearrange first aid training to our registered students. However, we are unable to refund monies for students who do not turn up for their registered first aid classes. Changes to class times are allowed, but the request must be done prior to 48 hours of the class commencing. Please contact MIA staff to change your session at least 48 hours prior to your registered session

USI Number Requirements:

Resources that will be available for this course: 

  • Adult/Infant resuscitation manikins in line with ARC guidelines for the purpose of assessment of CPR procedures

  • AED training device

  • Placebo bronchodilator and spacer device

  • Workplace first aid kit

  • Workplace injury and/or illness record; or other appropriate workplace incident report form for written reports
